I’ve been plugging my way through Game of Thrones for a couple months now. This is the 2nd time I’ve tried to make my way through it. I’m a huge fantasy lover, have been for a very long time, but there’s just something about this epic that is so very hard to get through. At the recommendation of a friend I started watching the HBO series to help put faces to names, and it’s helped a little, but there’s still so many that when I go back to reading it’s hard to keep the characters straight.
Seems that winter is coming to Estes Park – or maybe just fall. The last couple of nights have been delightfully cool, so cool that this morning we even cranked on the bedroom heater. There’s a little bit of a chill on the air in the early morning and it’s clear that autumn will be here before we know it.
I started my new job today at the bank. So far nothing thrilling, mostly computer training and paper work, but it’s great to have a normal schedule with Cameron. I’ve been able to plan out our weekly meals and actually cook dinner at night–what a blessing. After dinner we have a chance to take the dog for a walk, watch some tv, and wind down together before heading to bed. Now I have time to read a couple of chapters of Game of Thrones before I fall asleep because I’m not coming home at 11:00 completely exhausted. We can go hiking on the weekends before the season ends. Strange that having a normal life is kind of new and exciting for us….
Well, in the meantime, back to tonight’s episode of Game of Thrones. I’m borrowing the first season from a friend and limiting myself to one episode a night in the hope that I might be able to finish up the book before I get to the end of the season. I do so love a good surprise at the end of a book.
