The First Post is Always the Hardest

Well, I’ve been sitting here with this new blog for about 20 minutes now trying to figure out what to post first, and haven’t been able to come up with anything. So I figured I’d just write out why I’m writing this new blog, maybe so that I can figure out what I want to write about. Any maybe so you can figure out if you want to follow me.

1. I like to write. Furthermore, I’m part of that generation that likes to share my life with others. That’s how we connect on a world level, right? I read about your life, gain perspective, you read about my life, you gain perspective…a whole circle thing, right?

2. I’m about to be a new wife and I am hoping, within the next two years, to be a new mom. That’s right, I said it, finally. If you didn’t know (and chances are you don’t) I am chomping at the bit to have a baby. So I’d like to use this blog as a resource for frustrations, new developments, interesting things I’ve learned…you know, a Mommy Blog. I’m not a mommy yet but it’s a long process…and if you’d like to be around for the ride than I would love it.

2a. Reading other Mommy (and Daddy!) blogs. Associating with couples who are at the same point that we are (that is, the pre-TTC stage), the ones that are TTC, pregnant couples, new parents….the works. Goes back to that whole perspective thing.

3. I love to cook and food blogging is a good way to learn new recipes, get feedback on recipes, share what I’m doing in my kitchen…blah blah blah.

4. I need a break from my day job from time to time. Just need to vent. Sometimes I piss people off on my Facebook when I do this, so I guess here’s maybe a better place? I’m never going to apologize for the things I write unless I’m writing complete falsehoods…so unfortunately the only suggestion I have if you don’t like something I say is to not read it.

I think that’s it. I’m sure other things will come up. Until then….write on I guess!

Today Cameron and I actually had a day off together. Shocking. Luckily, I only have one more week at my job at the restaurant, and then we will have regular evenings and days off together. But anyway, we took advantage of the day and took a trip down to Fort Collins to get some stuff done. We had lunch at HuHot, one of our old haunts and a fabulous Mongolian BBQ place. Nom. After that we went to the sheriff’s office so that I could get my fingerprints done for my new job. Then, we went to Men’s Warehouse (Wearhouse? Don’t remember if they’re punny or not) to select the tuxes for the groom’s party. FINALLY. Major check off the wedding to-do list. I think now we still have to get rings and nail down the rentals and catering….but I’m probably forgetting something major there.

Anyway, after Men’s Warehouse we went to Home Depot to pick up some stuff to fix the master bathroom’s sink (which ended up being a fruitless endeavor as we realized the faucet that needed to be fixed was non-standard)…and I got some frozen yogurt on the way out of town. One thing I reeeeally miss up here in Estes. Now is time for watching some Olympics–another thing I haven’t been able to do since it started, except on DVR. On the one hand it’s nice to be able to forward through the commercials, but on the other hand, there’s a pretty good chance I’ve already heard the results or seen them on Facebook. Watching the womens’ team gymnastics is not nearly as thrilling when I knew that they won gold.

All for now I guess. Till then!
